Creative Piece of Work - Street-Free Suburbia
Over the course of a year, an average of 37 children are hit and killed by cars in suburban streets in Australia (DIT, 2010). The crude image to the left depicts my solution to this problem - a method of eliminating suburban street traffic from the surface entirely.
My design shows how parking, street identification, basic drainage, external access and basic structural forms would work.
In addition to eliminating the dangers of street traffic, this system has the potential to extract the emissions produced by the vehicles travelling through it, allowing them to be disposed of in a more environmentally friendly way.
This structure would have to be utilised in new housing developments, as it would likely be too costly to construct in present suburbs. Other limitations include height restriction, the mass-use of concrete and weight limitations for the houses that would be build on top of the structure.

A Great Piece of Architecture - Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
This absolutely stunning piece of architecture took four years to design and plan and twelve years to construct. It is considered to be an icon of Italian unity, as its construction and completion occurred around the time of Italian federation (Stein, A. 2015).
As well as being a striking building, the Galleria is quite intuitive as well.  The mass of glass used to form the ceiling not only illuminates the arcade during the day, but serves to act as a 'greenhouse' in the harsh Milan winter, keeping the arcade at a more comfortable temperature.
The building also acts as a link between the Duomo square and the famous La Scala Opera House.

Something Beautiful - An Evening at the Beach
In my opinion, there is nothing more beautiful than a beach at dusk. The photograph to the left, which I took in my first week of being in Sydney, depicts the stunning place where I now live, as well as the wonderful people I've met who have already become some of my closest friends.
